‘Wolgok Green Park,’ a representative urban park in Gochang-gun, Jeonbuk, has reopened after planting new flowers and trees and expanding convenience facilities such as a health walking trail.
According to the county on the 2nd, the ‘Wolgok Green Park Urban Forest Creation Project’ was selected in 2022 and carried out with a total budget of 1 billion KRW, including 500 million KRW from the provincial government and 500 million KRW from the county.

To promote tree growth, the soil was improved, and drainage pipes were installed for smooth water flow. The old and rusted iron fence was removed, creating a more open atmosphere.
In the central plaza, a large full moon sculpture symbolizing ‘Wolgok Village (wishing for great people to emerge while watching the moon rising from Bangjangsan Mountain)’ catches the eye.
Additionally, a walking trail and a barefoot walking loess path were created to promote residents’ health, and convenience facilities such as benches were expanded.
County Governor Shim Deok-seop said, “As residents’ demands for health and rest are increasing, we will strive to create leisure and cultural spaces utilizing urban parks.”
