Party Leader Candidate Support Account Opens Today at 9 AM
Faster Than When Lee Jae-myung Ran for Party Leader in 2022
Han Dong-hoon, a candidate for the People Power Party leadership election on July 23, reached the fundraising limit of 150 million won within 8 minutes of starting his campaign donations.
Han's support committee announced that the fundraising account opened at 9 a.m. was closed just 8 minutes later. This is faster than Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, who raised 150 million won in 2 hours during the 2022 leadership election campaign.

Earlier, Han's campaign completed the registration of the support committee on the 25th of last month. The chairperson of the support committee is Kim Hanna, wife of the late Navy Sergeant Han Sang-guk, who died in the Second Battle of Yeonpyeong. Han met Kim, the chairperson, at the West Sea Defense Day event on the 29th of last month and said, "It is difficult to have someone on my side in Korea right now, so I am grateful."
Han's campaign had planned to start fundraising activities on the 28th of last month but postponed them in consideration of the recent Hwaseong fire disaster. Through his campaign, Han expressed, "I pray for the repose of the deceased and offer my deepest condolences to all the bereaved families who are grieving."
Meanwhile, the chairpersons of other candidates' support committees are as follows: Jang Young-gi and Park Geum-mi, who run Gaepungsanghoe at Daegu Seomun Market, for candidate Won Hee-ryong; Shin Young-kyun, a veteran actor and former two-term lawmaker, and senior advisor of the People Power Party, for candidate Na Kyung-won; and former lawmaker Lee Kang-hee and former president of the Je-Incheon-Chungnam Residents Association Jo Jeong-geun for candidate Yoon Sang-hyun.
