Myeong Hyun-gwan, Haenam County Governor, Promises a Future-Oriented Vision for the Second Half of the 8th Elected Term

"Thanking Residents for Record-Breaking Achievements, Focusing on Nurturing Future Growth Engines in the Second Half"

Haenam-gun, Jeollanam-do, has started the second half of the 8th term of the elected administration with vigor.

On the 1st, Myeong Hyun-gwan, the county governor, expressed his gratitude to the residents during the first regular meeting of the second half of the 8th term and pledged to dedicate efforts to the county administration for the future.

Governor Myeong stated, “As two years of the 8th term have passed and we begin a new two-year period, I thank the residents and will do my best to leverage the achievements of the county administration so far for the development of the residents and Haenam-gun.”

Haenam-gun is promoting key priority projects in the second half of the 8th term. The county plans to focus on three major priority projects: the already designated Opportunity Development Zone, the complex marine leisure tourism city, and the inclusion of the high-speed rail (KTX) Haenam line in the national plan.

These initiatives are expected to enhance Haenam’s future growth engines. Plans also include establishing the National Agricultural and Food Climate Change Response Center, Agricultural Research Complex, Carbon Neutral Edu Center, and Green Convergence Cluster.

In particular, Haenam is fostering long-term growth engines through the ‘Haenam 2030 Project.’ The main tasks presented are the sustainable transformation of agriculture and fisheries into future industries, advancement into carbon neutrality and cutting-edge future strategic industries, and strategic population inflow into Haenam.

Through this, Haenam aims to achieve a significant leap that will determine its future for the next 20 to 30 years.

Haenam-gun is actively promoting various projects including the Solar City corporate city, Hwawon Industrial Complex, and Opportunity Development Zone projects. Through these efforts, the county plans to ensure that these projects proceed steadily within the 8th term.

Major national projects successfully attracted during the 7th and 8th terms have begun full-scale implementation, and full efforts will be made on projects such as the construction connecting National Road No. 77 between Haenam and Sinan’s Amhae.

Governor Myeong Hyun-gwan said, “We have prepared a place to convey our gratitude to the residents through a trusted and nationally recognized efficient county administration, and to confirm that we ourselves are proud residents of Haenam-gun. If the projects we have planned proceed without setbacks, the future generations of Haenam will be able to proudly pursue their dreams with the pride that Haenam is not the end of the land but the center of Korea and the beginning of Eurasia.”
