"Summer at GS25"... '1+1' from Ice Cream to Ready Meals

Over 1,700 Event Products... Half the Size of Regular Products
Targeting 'Convenience Store Peak Season' in Q3
July-September Sales Up 8.6% Compared to Monthly Average

GS Retail's convenience store GS25 announced on the 2nd that it will offer over 1,700 products with buy-one-get-one-free (1+1) and price discount promotions throughout July under the theme "Our Neighborhood Convenience Vacation." Considering that the store operates around 3,000 general products, about half of the product lineup is included in the promotional event.


The main highlights of this event include ▲ 1+1 promotions on beverages and frozen desserts ▲ discounts on alcoholic beverages and chicken to support international sports events ▲ Rain marketing in preparation for the rainy season.

First, 224 types of beverages and frozen desserts, which see increased demand in summer, will be offered in 1+1 promotions. This represents about a 50% increase in 1+1 promotional products compared to previous years. Featured best-selling products by category include 'Coca-Cola Zero,' 'Gatorade,' 'Netflix Energy Drink,' 'Netflix Choco Chip Pint,' and 'Thewisanyang.' All Natulu pint products are eligible for 1+1 discounts when purchased with GS Pay until the 15th of this month.


Additionally, summer-themed health foods such as Samgyetang (ginseng chicken soup) and eel chueotang (loach soup) will be offered in 1+1 promotions, and whole watermelons will be discounted by 30% when purchased with KB Kookmin Card.


In line with the European football championship and international sports events leading up to Paris, a "Chimaek" (chicken + beer) discount promotion has been prepared. The main details of the beer discount promotion are ▲ 3 cans of 740ml mega-sized beers including Cass, Budweiser, and Stella for 7,800 KRW ▲ 3 bottles of 500ml bottled beers including Cass, Kelly, and Crush for 4,500 KRW ▲ every Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, 4 cans of 500ml Heineken or Guinness for 10,000 KRW. These promotions will continue sequentially until the end of July.


The chicken promotion centers around GS25's "Chicken25" products. Representative offers include ▲ 1+1 on 5 types of chicken pieces when paid with GS Pay (July 1?15) ▲ 30% discount on 6 types of whole chicken when purchased with KB Kookmin Card (July 15?31) ▲ 5,000 KRW discount coupons for chicken delivery or pickup via the "Our Neighborhood GS" app.


For the sports events, unique marketing has also been prepared. Customers who use the four services of the Our Neighborhood GS app?GS Pay payment, pre-order, convenience store delivery, and convenience store pickup?the most will be selected to receive commemorative gold, silver, and bronze coins as prizes. Six winners will be chosen for each of the four services, totaling 24 recipients who will receive the commemorative coins.


GS25 also plans to continue "Rain Marketing" during the summer season in preparation for the prolonged rainy season. Every rainy day, 1,000 quick commerce-exclusive coupons worth 5,000 KRW will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis through the Our Neighborhood GS app.


Meanwhile, the convenience store industry records its highest sales of the year from July to September, the third quarter. According to GS25's analysis of monthly average sales indices over the past three years, setting the average monthly sales as 100, the sales index for the third quarter (July?September) recorded 108.6, exceeding the monthly average sales index.


Lee Jeong-pyo, head of GS Retail's O4O division, said, "We have carefully planned and launched the July promotion, which offers unprecedented benefits to drive peak sales for franchise stores during the peak season while easing the burden on customers' shopping baskets. We will continue to lead convenience store trends by implementing marketing strategies linked to weather and major sports events, as well as differentiated O4O marketing based on the Our Neighborhood GS app."
