Gyeonggi-do, Proactive Response to Heavy Rain... Emergency Level 1 at 9 AM on the 2nd

Gyeonggi Province will issue an 'Emergency Level 1' alert starting at 9 a.m. on the 2nd in response to the forecasted heavy rain.

Gyeonggi Province announced that the Korea Meteorological Administration expects heavy rainfall of 30 to 120mm across the entire province on the 2nd and 3rd due to a low-pressure system approaching from the southwestern sea, and will therefore issue an Emergency Level 1 alert starting at 9 a.m. on the 2nd.

Under Emergency Level 1, a total of 32 personnel will be on duty, including 20 disaster-related officials and 12 staff members in each major department's own situation room.

Earlier, on the 1st, under special instructions from Kim Seong-jung, First Deputy Governor of Gyeonggi Province, the following measures were communicated to 31 cities and counties: ▲ Surveillance and inspection of landslide-prone areas, road slopes, mountain soil runoff, and retaining walls or embankments vulnerable to collapse due to ground weakening after weekend rainfall ▲ Inspection of flood prevention materials such as water barriers and sandbags, and flood alarm devices in semi-basement housing areas and low-lying districts ▲ Pre-removal of foreign substances such as fallen leaves and cigarette butts from rainwater inlets and drainage channels, and inspection of operation of blocking facilities such as Sewol Bridge and underground roads ▲ Inspection and securing or removal of outdoor signs, construction cranes, and flying debris at risk of falling due to strong winds.

A Gyeonggi Province official stated, "The province is conducting proactive control of risky areas such as river access roads and floodplain parking lots to ensure the safety of residents and prevent damage from heavy rain," and added, "While inconvenience to residents may occur, we ask for cooperation to prevent casualties."
