Minister of the Interior Sang-min Lee Pledges "Best Efforts for Rescue" in Major Traffic Accident in Front of Seoul City Hall

On the 1st, Lee Sang-min, Minister of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, gave an urgent directive near Seoul City Hall Station regarding a traffic accident that caused multiple casualties, stating, "We will do our best to rescue lives through rapid emergency treatment and hospital transfer by mobilizing all available resources."

Earlier that day, at around 9:27 PM, a traffic accident occurred near Seoul City Hall Station, resulting in 6 deaths, 4 critically injured, and 3 with minor injuries. Among the 4 critically injured, 3 are in cardiac arrest.

The police arrested a male driver in his 70s at the scene. The driver is reported to claim that sudden unintended acceleration was the cause of the accident.

The fire department has deployed 37 vehicles and 134 personnel to manage the accident site.
