The mayor explained the achievements of the two years of the 8th local government administration, which has run tirelessly focusing only on the residents, and presented a future blueprint for Damyang for the remaining two years.

He explained the achievements in agriculture, saying, “We have continuously expanded the agricultural budget to realize a prosperous rural area, and have been selected for a contest to create a smart livestock complex with an investment of 12.7 billion KRW, and have worked to cultivate Damyang’s premium strawberries.”

He emphasized that to establish a more thorough Damyang-style rural welfare system, an integrated care task force was formed, and services such as hospital accompaniment for those with mobility difficulties and care for discharged patients have been implemented to provide filial administration that residents can feel.

He promised to steadily promote the creation of a food-specialized agro-industrial complex and the 2nd general industrial complex to prepare for Damyang’s next 100 years.

In addition, he said that great efforts are being made on the 25 billion KRW-scale Mujeong Bonan District and Damyang-eup Samman District rural space maintenance projects, which were selected as contest projects, and that large-scale housing complex construction projects such as Goseo Bochondistrict and Daedeok Maesan District are also being carried out as planned to create a pleasant and safe premium city.

Mayor Lee analyzed Damyang’s pressing issues such as continuous population decline, aging, and poor financial independence, and explained the current status of public facility operations, which are increasingly running deficits, emphasizing the sense of ownership of both public officials and residents to overcome these challenges.

Through this, he expressed his ambition to create a foundation to complement the region’s weaknesses and strengthen development potential, moving toward a “sustainable, self-reliant ecological and cultural economic city where 62,000 residents live happily” by 2040.

Mayor Byungno Lee said, “Over the two years of the 8th local government administration, I have listened to the voices of residents on site, inherited what was done well, filled in what was lacking, and improved what was wrong, tirelessly working for the happiness of the residents,” adding, “I will continue to keep my original intention and move forward more vigorously toward a greater future for Damyang, embracing the hearts of the residents.”

Meanwhile, prior to the performance report meeting, on the 28th of last month, to mark the 2nd anniversary of the 8th local government administration, the mayor and about 40 senior officials visited the Yeongsan River Flood Control Reservoirs (Reservoirs 1 to 3) for an on-site inspection.

On that day, Mayor Lee carefully examined the site of the park golf course project to activate the flood control reservoirs while walking together and urged the smooth progress of the project.
