Hyundai AutoEver has strengthened its competitiveness in cybersecurity and software (SW) business by recruiting key executives from major information technology (IT) companies such as Naver and Socar.
On the 1st, Hyundai AutoEver announced that it had appointed Choi Won-hyuk, formerly of Naver Cloud, as Chief Information Security Officer (CISO), and Ji Doo-hyun, formerly of Socar, as Head of the SW Development Center.
Director Choi is a security expert who has set multiple 'industry first' records over 22 years in the information security field. From the early stages of Naver’s public cloud business, he held key positions including head of cloud security, Chief Privacy Officer (CPO), and Data Protection Officer (DPO). He was also responsible for the security of financial platforms such as Line Bank and Line Pay, subsidiaries of Naver’s affiliate Line.
Hyundai AutoEver plans to leverage Director Choi’s experience to enhance its integrated security capabilities and strengthen the overall group’s data protection level, including information protection and hacking response, amid increasing cyber threats due to the transition to software-defined vehicles (SDV).
Ji Doo-hyun, Head of Service Engineering at Socar, was recruited as Head of Hyundai AutoEver’s SW Development Center. Director Ji earned both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Computer Engineering from KAIST and began his career as a developer. He served as a lead for Naver’s Webtoon & Web Novel Cell and managed various projects at Riot Games Korea, the developer of League of Legends (LOL). At Socar, he oversaw mobility service development as Head of Service Engineering.
Meanwhile, Shim Min-jung, Head of Legal Affairs, was promoted to director, becoming Hyundai AutoEver’s first female executive. A former prosecutor (Judicial Research and Training Institute, 35th class), Director Shim joined Hyundai AutoEver’s Legal Support Team in 2015 and has nearly a decade of experience managing internal legal issues and compliance activities (legal compliance, legal monitoring, and internal control).
Recently, the consecutive recruitment of leadership-level executives is part of the competitiveness enhancement efforts led by Hyundai AutoEver President Kim Yoon-gu. With this personnel move, Hyundai AutoEver expects to strengthen its intellectual property management and global risk management capabilities in the ICT and SW industries, thereby solidifying the foundation for the company’s continuous growth and development. President Kim emphasized, “The recruitment of leaders with rich experience and expertise will be an important turning point to promote innovation in the company’s core technology areas. We will continue to strive to discover the best talent and provide an environment where their capabilities can be fully utilized.”
