Cheonan City to Compensate Up to 50 Million KRW Annually for Damages Caused by Road Facilities

Cheonan City in Chungnam has opened a way for compensation in case of damages caused by poor management of road facilities under its control.

On the 1st, the city announced that it has joined the public facility liability mutual aid insurance for roads, which compensates citizens who suffer physical or property damage due to poor management of city-managed road facilities.

The insured roads include all sections of city roads, rural roads, and urban planning roads, totaling 3,630 routes and 1,768.44 km in length. However, bicycle paths, sidewalks, and riverside paths are excluded.

The compensation limit for road damages is 20 million KRW per accident per route, with an annual total limit of 50 million KRW.

A city official stated, “We will do our best to ensure prompt and sufficient compensation for victims in case of road accidents,” adding, “We will continue to explore various measures for road safety and thoroughly maintain and repair road facilities.”
