"Shop Without a Passport"... Shinsegae Myeon Introduces Mobile Passport Service

Partnership with Mobile Authentication Platform LoadSystem

Shinsegae Duty Free announced on the 1st that it has introduced a mobile passport service that allows duty-free shopping without a physical passport, in partnership with the mobile authentication platform LoadSystem.

Users can issue and use a digital mobile passport through LoadSystem's TripPASS app. The mobile passport is created through OCR (Optical Character Recognition) scanning of the physical passport, electronic passport chip recognition, and facial recognition processes. Shinsegae Duty Free explained that blockchain technology and other measures have been used to prevent personal information leakage and forgery.

LoadSystem will also provide the first 2,000 users of the mobile passport service with 5,000 won in TripPay, which can be used like cash at Paybook-affiliated stores nationwide, including Shinsegae Duty Free.

A Shinsegae Duty Free representative said, "We expect the introduction of the mobile passport service to significantly improve shopping convenience for domestic and international tourists," adding, "Shinsegae Duty Free will continue to strive to create an environment and related services where tourism and shopping are organically connected."
