Early Establishment of National Industrial Complex (460,000 Pyeong)
Green Light for Achieving Population Vision of 100,000
Goheung-gun, Jeollanam-do announced that the government finalized the Goheung Space Launch Vehicle National Industrial Complex as a project exempt from the preliminary feasibility study (PFS) after the advisory meeting on PFS for public institution projects held on the 28th.
As the Goheung Space Launch Vehicle National Industrial Complex became the first project in a local region to be exempted from the PFS among 15 new national industrial complex candidate sites nationwide, a green light has been turned on for the early establishment of the national industrial complex and the achievement of Goheung-gun’s vision of a population of 100,000.
Upon the announcement of the PFS exemption confirmation for the Goheung Space Launch Vehicle National Industrial Complex, all residents warmly welcomed the news, and the entire Goheung-gun was filled with a festive atmosphere.
Gong Young-min, the county governor, said, “On behalf of the 62,000 residents of Goheung-gun and over 700,000 compatriots, I warmly welcome the confirmation of the PFS exemption for the Goheung Space Launch Vehicle National Industrial Complex. This exemption is the greatest achievement in the history of Goheung-gun. I sincerely thank the government, Jeollanam-do, and all project stakeholders who worked together with one heart to promote the national industrial complex swiftly.”
He added, “With the PFS exemption confirmed for all three core projects of building the space launch vehicle industrial cluster?the private launch site, the launch vehicle technology commercialization center, and the space launch vehicle national industrial complex?our county has laid the foundation to grow as a hub for the space launch vehicle industry. We will also strive to ensure that essential infrastructure and facilities to improve accessibility for creating the space launch vehicle industrial ecosystem are developed without delay.”
Meanwhile, the Goheung Space Launch Vehicle National Industrial Complex will be established over approximately 460,000 pyeong in the Bongrae-myeon area of Goheung-gun. The project implementer, Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH), plans to establish the industrial complex plan by the first half of 2025.
