Busan Office of Education Teams Up with Legal Experts to Address Violence and Delinquency

Legal Experts Deliver Violence Prevention Law Education to Schools

Enhancing School Response to Violence and Spreading Awareness of Prevention

The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education has rolled up its sleeves to eradicate and prevent violence and delinquency occurring within schools.

The Busan Office of Education (Superintendent Ha Yoonsoo) will conduct the "On-site School Education for the Eradication and Prevention of Violence and Delinquency" by appointing legal professionals (lawyers and police officers) as instructors at elementary, middle, and high schools in the Busan area from the 8th to December 13th.

This initiative aims to strengthen the response to school violence and foster proper awareness of prevention, especially in light of recent incidents such as the synthesis and distribution of deepfake photos and videos, which constitute cyber sexual violence and violations of teachers' rights.

The Office will provide legal education focusing on cases that occur and can be applied in school settings to eradicate ▲school violence ▲cyber sexual violence (including deepfake photo synthesis and distribution) ▲violations of teachers' rights ▲narcotics and harmful substances ▲cyber gambling.

In particular, this education allows students and teachers to participate together, directly asking legal experts questions about problems and solutions that arise within schools and resolving their concerns.

Recently, the Office held a workshop for the instructor group, which consists of over 50 school violence prevention support lawyers, school police officers from the Busan Metropolitan Police Agency, and Superintendent Ha Yoonsoo, to strengthen their capacity to educate on the eradication and prevention of violence and delinquency.

Additionally, the Office plans to further enhance teachers' problem-solving abilities and guidance skills by providing educational materials for violence prevention and student guidance, as well as conducting capacity-building training for teachers.

Ha Yoonsoo, Superintendent of the Busan Office of Education, stated, "This education by legal experts will help students develop proper values and learn ways to protect themselves and those around them from various dangers," adding, "The Office of Education will do its utmost to create a safe school environment where all students can pursue their dreams."
