"Public Sentiment Is the Answer Sheet... Change Needed for Regime Re-Creation"
Han Dong-hoon, a former emergency committee member and a presidential candidate of the People Power Party, responded to rival candidates Na Kyung-won, Won Hee-ryong, and Yoon Sang-hyun, who have launched a coordinated attack calling him a "politician of betrayal," saying, "The three of them seem to have synchronized their timing as if they rehearsed together to conduct fear marketing." He added, "They are spreading fear marketing suggesting that if I am elected, it will even lead to the president's impeachment, but such a thing will not happen, and I am the best person to prevent it."
On the 1st, Han appeared on CBS Radio's 'Kim Hyun-jung's News Show' and said, "When former representative Kim Ki-hyun became party leader through artificial support last March, there were similar claims that whoever became leader would lead to impeachment and betrayal politics." He asserted, "The public is well aware that this is the same old script." He also criticized, "Talking about impeaching our government during an internal party election is a kind of fear marketing and a form of political intimidation against party members and the public."

Regarding the National Assembly's public petition demanding President Yoon Seok-yeol's impeachment, which surpassed 800,000 signatures as of 9:45 a.m. that day, Han replied, "It is, after all, a kind of political popularity vote," and said, "A situation like impeachment will not occur." He added, "If you look at the reasons for impeachment posted on the petition site, they are highly partisan," and said, "Issues like Japan's Fukushima response and the escalating war threat related to North Korea cannot legally be grounds for impeachment."
When asked about the future tasks of the People Power Party as a presidential candidate, he answered, "Not doing what the public dislikes and doing what they like," adding, "Judgments and priorities on this can be determined through communication." Han said, "We need to reform the party-government relationship in a rational, cooperative, and communicative direction," and "We also need to rebuild the foundation of conservative politics."
He expressed concern that the conservative party has lost its image of competence. Han pointed out, "We need to show a lot of vision for the future," and said, "In the past, conservative parties had the image of being competent even if they were corrupt, but now we have lost much of that image of competence." He explained, "Competence in modern politics ultimately means persuasion and communication," and added, "Political choices are limited and usually the right choices are made, but the important thing is how well those choices are explained and how much empathy they receive."
