Hanwha Robotics Appoints Jeong Byeong-chan as New CEO and Chief Technology Officer

Accelerating New Technology Development... Expecting Synergy Among Group Affiliates

Hanwha Robotics announced on the 1st that it has appointed Jeong Byeong-chan, Chief Technology Officer (CTO), as the new CEO. Seo Jong-hwi, who took office as CEO when the company was launched in October last year, will take on the role of technical advisor to support new technology development and network expansion.


Jeong, the new CEO known as a "technology expert," graduated from the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Sungkyunkwan University and earned a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Southern California. He then served as the head of the robotics technology teams in Hanwha's machinery and momentum divisions and is currently leading overall new technology development at Hanwha Robotics. He is also spearheading the development of the new collaborative robot model HCR-10L, scheduled for release this year.


A Hanwha Robotics official stated, "Based on his deep understanding of the robotics industry and diverse field experience, we expect him to accelerate the development of new technologies and global sales that will lead the market in the future."

Hanwha Robotics plans to utilize Hanwha's advanced robotic technologies, including collaborative robots, across various sectors from manufacturing to services, with Jeong as the central figure. The company is also accelerating the development of robot technologies and applications related to food tech, which has recently gained attention.


A Hanwha Robotics official said, "Cases of utilizing robot technology in food and beverage settings have noticeably increased recently," adding, "We will strive to develop differentiated technologies that can lead the domestic and global food tech markets together with Hanwha Foodtech."


Collaboration with group affiliates is also an important task. The company plans to promote the use of robot technology to enhance customer service at manufacturing sectors such as Hanwha Aerospace and Hanwha Ocean, as well as business sites like Hanwha Galleria and Hanwha Hotels & Resorts.
