75% of Roaming Users Choose 'Gajok Roaming'
Increased Roaming Service Usage Among All Family Members
SK Telecom announced on the 30th that 1.26 million people from 530,000 households have used the 'Family Roaming' service within one year of its launch, with over 75% of roaming users choosing the Family Roaming service.
SKT's roaming data sharing service, Family Roaming, has reached its first anniversary. Family Roaming is a service where one family member subscribes to SKT's roaming plan called baro and, by paying an additional 3,000 KRW, up to four family members can share roaming data together. The service was launched on June 29 last year.
A notable feature of Family Roaming is the higher proportion of female and teenage customers compared to overall roaming plan users. Among Family Roaming users, 56% are female (1.5 times higher than individual users), and 22% are teenagers (4.4 times higher than individual users).
SKT analyzes that previously, the proportion of entire families using roaming services during family trips was low due to cost burdens, but with the launch of Family Roaming, the cost burden has been removed, leading to more families traveling together using roaming services.
If a family member traveling together subscribes to the '0 Youth Plan' as the family representative, they can join Family Roaming at a discounted rate.
For example, if a 0 Youth Plan subscriber signs up for the baro 6GB plan priced at 39,000 KRW and subscribes to Family Roaming, the whole family can use roaming services at 22,500 KRW, which is the 50% discounted price (19,500 KRW) plus the Family Roaming fee of 3,000 KRW.
To celebrate the vacation season, SKT will expand the 13% discount benefit at Shinsegae Duty Free (both online and offline), previously offered to baro plan users, up to a maximum of 20% for July and August. Additionally, for the month of July, Family Roaming representative subscribers will receive an extra 5,000 KRW Shinsegae Duty Free online and offline points.
SKT is also running a cashback event until September 20, where customers who have not used a roaming plan in the past 60 months and subscribe to the baro plan will receive 50% of their roaming fees credited as Naver Pay points.
