Gangnam-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Jo Seong-myeong) announced that it held the “Health Guardian Angels by Our Side” event on the 29th at Irwon Eco Park, providing free mobile medical examinations and health checkups for medically vulnerable groups in collaboration with Seoul National University Hospital Gangnam Center.

On that day, 115 members of the Oasis Volunteer Group from Seoul National University Hospital Gangnam Center, along with 80 welfare facility workers and volunteers, conducted health screenings for 210 vulnerable individuals starting from 8 a.m. The medical services were divided into eight departments: internal medicine, surgery, ophthalmology, pain clinic, obstetrics and gynecology, dentistry, otolaryngology, and dementia clinic. Those with abnormal findings will be referred to Seoul National University Hospital Gangnam Center or affiliated medical institutions in Gangnam-gu for follow-up support.

Additionally, booths for mental health counseling, simple assessments of social isolation for single-person households, housing welfare counseling, outreach welfare counseling, and prevention of solitary deaths were operated.

Since the start of the “Beautiful Neighbors, Gangnam Stepping Stone Project Agreement” in 2009, this project, now in its 11th year, identifies medically vulnerable groups and provides opportunities for health checkups and treatment. So far, over 2,600 people have benefited from free examinations.

District Mayor Jo Seong-myeong stated, “We will continue to cooperate closely with Seoul National University Hospital Gangnam Center to support residents lacking medical benefits so that they can live healthy lives.”
