July 2, 4-10 PM at Busan Sahakyeongeum Wedding Hall
Jung Yonghwan Soccer Dream Scholarship Foundation Plans to Establish in Gijang-gun
A rather pricey(?) Hof Day, unlike any other festival, is about to take place. Although it is advertised as all-you-can-drink, with an entrance fee of 30,000 won, unless you are a heavy drinker who enjoys getting tipsy, it might seem like an overpriced event.
However, this is a Hof Day where you won't regret attending even if you only have a single drink. There will be a wide variety of Chinese-style side dishes. The people providing the side dishes are not even covering their ingredient costs. They are sponsors as well.
The 'One-Day Hof' hosted by the Jung Yonghwan Football Dream Scholarship Foundation (President Song Chunyeol) will be held on July 2 from 4 PM to 10 PM at the Sahakyeongeum Wedding Hall in Busanjingu, Busan, welcoming many attendees.
All proceeds from Hof Day will be used to build a statue of the late Jung Yonghwan, the legendary Korean national football defender. The scholarship foundation has named this event the 'One-Day Hof for the Fundraising of the Statue of Busan Football Legend Jung Yonghwan.'
After he, a Korean national football player in the 1980s and 1990s, passed away due to illness, his fan club members continued his dream by supporting youth football prospects. Now, they have decided to erect his statue in a sports park in Busan.
Song Chunyeol, who is the same age as the late Jung Yonghwan and was a devoted fan and fan club president during his lifetime, now leads the scholarship foundation supporting youth football in his stead.
The statue will be erected in Gijang-gun, Jung Yonghwan's hometown. The 30,000 won entrance fee for Hof Day will contribute to the creation of Jung Yonghwan's statue.
Park Haengsu, secretary-general of the scholarship foundation, said, "Most of our members run Chinese restaurants or other food businesses, and they are hosting this Hof Day event by donating ingredients and their talents. Just like Jung Yonghwan's dream during his lifetime, we hope our wishes will not remain dreams but become reality."
They earnestly hope that the star, who worked tirelessly to nurture young talents, will stand as a statue and watch over the realization of his dream.
