YouTuber Who Created Rumor Video Sued
"There will be no leniency. I hope the criminals receive appropriate punishment and that no more victims like me will arise."
According to Yonhap News on the 29th, performing artist Poppin Hyun Joon filed a complaint with the Seoul Mapo Police Station against a YouTuber who produced a video containing malicious rumors, on charges of spreading false information and defamation. He also posted a photo of the complaint on his social media (SNS).
He stated, "Due to fake news, my family, acquaintances, fans, and I have experienced a lot of stress," and announced that he is taking legal action due to the serious spread of false information and defamation through posts and comments.
His wife, Park Ae Ri, also expressed on her SNS, "I want those who maliciously spread false information to receive proper legal judgment," adding, "To the bad people who are making my husband and family suffer, I will definitely catch you. You picked the wrong person to mess with," showing her anger.
Earlier, a YouTuber posted content claiming that Poppin Hyun Joon had an affair with one of his students while running a dance academy and divorced his wife, Park Ae Ri. On the 26th, he explained, "In the past few days, fake news has caused a lot of concern and stress for me, my family, acquaintances, and fans," and added, "False information and defamation are still being seriously spread through many posts and comments, so I am currently proceeding with civil and criminal complaints."
On the 27th, Poppin Hyun Joon further stated, "I will take strict legal action without leniency to prevent such unjust harm from happening to anyone else."
Later, on the 28th, he shared text messages exchanged with Dr. Oh Eun Young on SNS, saying, "Whether in good times or during hardships like this, I am very grateful to many people around me who always support me." In the messages he shared, Dr. Oh encouraged the couple, saying, "I always support you. Send the trash of the world to the trash bin and only keep happiness," and "I am always on your side," giving strength to Poppin Hyun Joon and traditional musician Park Ae Ri.
