The National Institute for Korean Medicine Development held the "2024 Korean Medicine Health Care Project Performance Conference" on the 28th to promote the activation of Korean medicine health care.
This conference was organized to identify outstanding cases that contributed to improving local health and welfare centered on Korean medicine, and to share and spread these achievements.
As Korea is about to enter a super-aged society in 2025, with the elderly population approaching 20.6%, providing community-based care where seniors reside has become increasingly important.
Accordingly, the National Institute for Korean Medicine Development is supporting the monitoring of health care projects centered on Korean medicine that are being promoted by each local government.
About 100 people attended the event, including representatives from the Ministry of Health and Welfare, the National Institute for Korean Medicine Development, local governments from cities, counties, and districts nationwide, as well as related organizations.
The first part of the event recognized and awarded outstanding local governments, organizations, and individuals who actively promoted Korean medicine health care projects in 2023 and contributed to improving the health of local residents.
The second part of the event shared the current status of Korean medicine health care projects and presented the following cases selected as outstanding examples in 2023: the "Korean Medicine Home Visit Service Project" by Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City; the "Integrated Korean Medicine Home Visit Service Project with Public-Private Cooperation" by Bucheon-si, Gyeonggi Province; and the "Healthy Care in Buk-gu: Buk-gu Integrated Care Model" by Buk-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City.
Jung Changhyun, President of the National Institute for Korean Medicine Development, said, "Through this event, we will actively support more organic cooperation with local governments and related organizations so that the necessary services can be continuously provided in the community."
