Support for Survivors... Dongmyung University, 'Survival in Local Bootcamp' Ignites Startup Passion

Tongmyong University is running a unique survival project that lays the foundation for entrepreneurship.

The "Survival in Local Bootcamp," a local creator discovery program by Tongmyong University (President Jeon Ho-hwan), is drawing attention by providing practical mentoring, business plan writing, idea pitching, and even prototype production funding.

The Tongmyong University Local Content-Focused University Project Group (Director Noh Seong-yeo) held the local creator discovery program on June 25 at the lounge on the 9th floor of Judy's Taehwa in Seomyeon (shared office 0.9M).

Previously, from June 5 to 16, the "Survival in Local" program evaluated the locality of stories, specificity of items, and business potential, selecting 20 first-round survivors. These participants refined their ideas through item feedback and pre-mentoring for local branding. The program also included special lectures by local experts, one-on-one intensive mentoring, business toolkit creation, business plan PPT writing, and individual item presentations.

The two final winners (Eom Nakyeong from the Department of Entrepreneurship and Hong Seokhee from the Department of Entrepreneurship) each received a prize of 1 million KRW. The second-round survivors were awarded a total of 10 million KRW in prototype production funding (1 million KRW for each of 8 teams and 500,000 KRW for each of 4 teams).

Students who participated in the program said, "Through hands-on experiences like writing business plans, we have become one step closer to local entrepreneurship, which once felt vague."

Director Noh Seong-yeo stated, "We will provide appropriate follow-up support so that students' valuable creativity does not remain just as ideas," adding, "We plan to continue supporting actual product development and prototype mock-ups through after-mentoring."
