"Like a close uncle"... 50s Man Arrested and Indicted for Sexually Assaulting Senior's Daughter

Charges Including Rape Resulting in Injury, Forced Indecent Assault Resulting in Injury, Defamation of a Deceased Person, and Violation of the Road Traffic Act

The prosecution has arrested and indicted a man in his 50s who sexually assaulted the daughter of a senior colleague whom he treated like a close uncle.

According to the legal community on the 28th, the Nonsan Branch of the Daejeon District Prosecutors' Office has arrested and indicted Mr. A (in his 50s) on charges including rape causing injury, forced molestation causing injury under the Special Act on the Punishment of Sexual Crimes, defamation of a deceased person, and violations of the Road Traffic Act.

According to a compilation of reports by Asia Economy, Mr. A is accused of taking Ms. B (female, 21), the daughter of his senior colleague with whom he had a close senior-junior relationship for 17 years, to a remote mountain area under the pretense of helping her practice driving and sexually assaulting her. He is also accused of repeatedly raping and molesting Ms. B at his office and motels.

After sexually assaulting Ms. B, Mr. A reportedly threatened her by saying, "If you reveal this, I will kill your father and mother," and demanded that she leave messages for him so that her parents would not suspect anything.

It is known that Mr. A had maintained a senior-junior relationship with Ms. B’s father for 17 years, stemming from when he helped with a criminal settlement while Ms. B’s father was under investigation and detained around 2005 for violating the Special Act on the Handling of Traffic Accidents (causing death).

Ms. B’s father is visually impaired, having lost sight in one eye due to the Iri Station explosion accident that occurred in Iksan City, Jeonbuk, in 1977.

Mr. A was revealed to have served as a crime prevention committee member at the Nonsan Branch from 2021 to 2022.

Ms. B reportedly did not speak out about the sexual assaults by Mr. A, fearing that it would damage the relationship between her father and Mr. A and escalate the situation.

However, after Ms. B began showing signs of anxiety and suffering from nightmares, she eventually confided the truth to her parents, leading to the exposure of Mr. A’s crimes.

Following the sexual assaults by Mr. A, Ms. B lost cognitive abilities to the level of a 4- to 5-year-old due to acute stress and was hospitalized for psychiatric treatment. In July 2022, after encountering Mr. A at a supermarket in Nonsan, her health deteriorated, and in 2023, she took an extreme measure.
