Namdong-gu, Incheon, and the Namdong Cultural Foundation are producing a tourist guidebook titled 'Sorae Food Storybook' as part of the pre-program for the 24th Sorae Port Festival.
The storybook will contain information on 23 types of seafood frequently traded seasonally at the Sorae Port fish market, along with 46 unique seafood recipes.
The booklet will be composed of information and recipes for representative seafood of spring, summer, autumn, and winter, as well as illustrations by professional writers. Spring features cuttlefish, webfoot octopus, and flatfish; summer includes croaker and octopus; autumn showcases blue crab, large shrimp, and gizzard shad; and winter highlights oysters and yellowtail, representing various seafood for each season.
It is scheduled to be published in September in conjunction with the Sorae Port Festival and will be distributed to libraries within Namdong-gu to be used as educational material for elementary, middle, and high school students. Additionally, the full text of the booklet will be available on the Namdong Cultural Foundation website, serving as a storytelling and tourist guide for visitors to Sorae Port.
Kim Jae-yeol, CEO of the Namdong Cultural Foundation, said, "We are creating a tourist guidebook that catalogs various story resources related to Sorae Port," adding, "Through this book, the charm of Sorae Port will be conveyed to more tourists."
Park Jong-hyo, Mayor of Namdong-gu, stated, "Through the Sorae Food Storybook, we aim to secure diversity and depth for the Sorae Port Festival and simultaneously promote the discovery of new original content for the festival in the mid to long term," and added, "We hope for much interest and participation in the Sorae Port Festival."
Meanwhile, the 24th Sorae Port Festival is scheduled to be held from September 27 to 29 in the Sorae Port area of Namdong-gu.
