Collaboration Model to Be Established with 'Korea Medical Tourism Business Center' Operated by Korea Tourism Organization ... Systematic Support Planned
Busan City has established a collaborative model with the Korea Tourism Organization for the first time among local governments nationwide and officially opened the 'Busan Medical Tourism Business Center' on the 27th, commencing full-scale operations.
At 11:30 a.m. on the 27th, an opening ceremony for the 'Busan Medical Tourism Business Center' was held on the 3rd floor of the Busan Economic Promotion Agency (located in Yeonsan-dong), attended by officials from the city, the Busan Economic Promotion Agency, and the Korea Tourism Organization.
The 'Busan Medical Tourism Business Center', established as a result of being selected for the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism's 'Wellness and Medical Tourism Convergence Cluster' project, utilizes part of the 3rd floor of the Busan Economic Promotion Agency and will be operated on a trial basis for the next two years.
In February of this year, the city was selected for the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism's 'Wellness and Medical Tourism Convergence Cluster' project, securing 500 million KRW in national funding, and the 'Busan Medical Tourism Business Center Establishment Project' is one of the initiatives under this program.
In particular, it is significant that the center is being opened and operated in collaboration with the 'Korea Medical Tourism Business Center', and it is expected to systematically support domestic and international business for the Busan medical tourism industry in the future.
The main functions include ▲management and promotion of attracting organizations ▲support for business meetings (B2B) ▲on-site medical tourism promotional events (B2C) ▲support for external medical tourism affairs with related organizations, among others.
This year, the focus will be on establishing the foundation for center operations according to a step-by-step roadmap, including ▲a survey of attracting organizations ▲discovery of promotional content ▲establishment of a B2B system, to vitalize the center's functions.
The city and the Korea Tourism Organization plan to conduct on-site inspections of Busan's medical tourism attracting organizations and strengthen promotion and support for Busan medical tourism based on mutual exchange (networking) and understanding.
After the opening ceremony, the city and the Busan Economic Promotion Agency, together with officials from the Korea Tourism Organization, visited hospitals and clinics that attract medical tourists to Busan, providing an opportunity to learn medical tourism know-how from the Korea Tourism Organization.
Going forward, the city will regularly promote mutual exchanges to enhance the capabilities of dedicated staff at the Busan center and activate promotion and business support for Busan medical tourism through the official channels of the Korea Tourism Organization.
Park Geunrok, Director of Tourism and MICE at Busan City, stated, "We will actively support the successful establishment of the Busan Medical Tourism Business Center and do our utmost to strengthen domestic and international business networking for the Busan medical tourism industry and to develop Busan as a 'global wellness and medical tourism hub city.'"
