[Featured Stock] Qualitas Semiconductor Develops World-Class Technology for the First Time... Anticipated to Lead the CXL Market

Qualitas Semiconductor, a specialist company in the development of ultra-high-speed interface IP (intellectual property), is showing strong performance. The news that it has developed the PCIe (Peripheral Component Interconnect Express) 6.0 PHY IP solution for the first time appears to be influencing its stock price.

As of 10:46 AM on the 28th, Qualitas Semiconductor is trading at 20,300 KRW, up 6.28% from the previous day.

PCIe is the standard for high-speed serial computer buses and has established itself as the fastest universal interface. Since the release of PCIe 1.0 in 2003, each generation has achieved double the speed improvement. PCIe 5.0 was applied in Intel’s Sapphire Rapids CPU launched early last year. It has now become mainstream, and Qualitas Semiconductor is building a leading technology roadmap through the development of PCIe 6.0.

Qualitas Semiconductor’s PCIe 6.0 PHY IP boasts a transmission speed of up to 64GT/s per lane, and by using up to 16 lanes, it can achieve data transfer speeds of up to 256GB/s in bidirectional communication. Qualitas Semiconductor has verified data transmission and reception at 64GT/s speeds through its PCIe 6.0 PHY IP test chip.

Qualitas Semiconductor has secured PAM4 (Pulse Amplitude Modulation 4-level) technology for 100G transmission speeds. In addition to analog methods, it has developed digital DSP (Digital Signal Processing) technology to enhance accuracy. Qualitas Semiconductor possesses world-class global technological competitiveness. It plans to produce a second test chip to verify compatibility with controller IP.

With the advent of deep learning, the development and demand for artificial intelligence (AI) technology have surged, requiring high accuracy and large-scale data processing capabilities. Compute Express Link (CXL) is gaining attention as a technology to replace existing memory systems. PCIe PHY IP technology is being utilized in CXL interface technology, which connects CPUs, graphics processing units (GPUs), and various devices to memory. Qualitas Semiconductor’s PCIe PHY IP complies with PCIe standards and can be used as the physical layer of CXL, expected to play a crucial role in the next-generation memory market.

Qualitas Semiconductor first licensed its PCIe 4.0 PHY IP solution on an 8nm process in 2021. This year, it gained recognition for its technology reliability and performance through a licensing agreement with a Chinese customer. The PCIe 6.0 PHY IP has also begun promotion to multiple customers, with most clients making specific inquiries. It is expected to solidify a dominant position in the market.

Qualitas Semiconductor is developing PCIe 6.0 PHY IP not only on the 5nm process but also on 4nm and 2nm processes.

Kim Doo-ho, CEO of Qualitas Semiconductor, said, "Through PCIe solution development, we have secured an important semiconductor design IP portfolio to implement AI technology in edge environments." He added, "All employees take pride in being the first in Korea to independently develop the high value-added PCIe PHY IP." He also stated, "Please look forward to the milestones Qualitas Semiconductor will achieve in the semiconductor IP market."
