Presentation on Bioelectrical Impedance Vector Analysis in Elderly Patients with Hip Fractures
Professor Im Seung-gyu of Soonchunhyang University Cheonan Hospital won the Best Poster Presentation Award at the "2nd Fragility Fracture Network Asia-Pacific Conference."
Suncheonhyang University Cheonan Hospital announced on the 28th that Professor Seungkyu Lim of the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine recently won the Best Poster Presentation Award at the 2nd Fragility Fracture Network Asia-Pacific Conference held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Professor Lim presented a paper titled "Bioelectrical Impedance Vector Analysis in Elderly Hip Fracture Patients."
The study compared and analyzed the body composition and nutritional status of elderly hip fracture patients and general elderly individuals in Korea using bioelectrical impedance vector analysis. The results showed that elderly hip fracture patients had overall decreased body water and body cell mass compared to general elderly individuals, indicating poorer nutritional status and a more frail condition.
Professor Seungkyu Lim stated, “As aging progresses, the risk of physical frailty and malnutrition increases, and this trend was particularly pronounced in elderly hip fracture patients. Considering this, applying tailored rehabilitation treatment could be useful in improving prognosis.”
