From Small Businesses to Large Corporations... "How to Utilize Kakao Business Like This"

Kakao has published a Kakao Business Casebook featuring success stories and challenges of Kakao Business partners. This casebook contains the know-how of teams awarded at the '2nd Kakao Business Best Awards.'


The casebook is organized into five chapters, covering marketing strategies using Kakao to startup growth strategies. These include Kakao full-funnel marketing, new customer acquisition, online commerce expansion, online-offline linkage, and startup growth strategies. It includes experiences from various business sizes, from small merchants and small brands to startups and large corporations.

Jeon Hyun-soo, Head of Advertising, explained, "The Kakao Business Seminar, started to promote Kakao Business to advertisers, has evolved over the years through communication with participating partners," adding, "We published the casebook to share the accumulated know-how from actual users with more businesses."


The case of the natural lifestyle brand 'Minted,' which won the grand prize, is also included. Minted advertised its solid toothpaste Minted through Kakao Bizboard during its launch phase. Within 1 year and 3 months of launching, it secured about 53,000 channel friends using the KakaoTalk channel. Park Sang-woo and Jo Myung-sun, representatives of Minted, said, "Kakao's advertising is highly efficient as it secures not only customer attraction but also sales," and added, "We plan to continue promoting our brand with Kakao Business."


AeroK, ahead of the off-season in the travel industry, strengthened promotion of special price events and short-term promotions through Kakao Bizboard visit campaigns. They increased retention and expanded their channel by offering channel friend-exclusive benefits via the KakaoTalk channel. Through display ads aimed at adding channel friends operated for about two months, they achieved a total of 7,363 new friends. Jung Yong-hyun, AeroK Aviation Manager, stated, "Even during the industry's off-season, we effectively secured new customers through Kakao Bizboard, created traffic peaks, expanded the KakaoTalk channel, and are using it as the main brand channel."


Palnammaejip also stands out. Participating in 'Our Neighborhood Loyal Market,' which supports traditional market merchants in creating loyal customers and communicating via KakaoTalk channels, Palnammaejip was the first store among Seongnam Jungang Market participants to reach 100 friends. Kim Jong-sook, representative of Palnammaejip, shared, "When I was wondering how to efficiently use time and capital to promote the restaurant to more customers, the KakaoTalk channel was a fortunate opportunity that opened new development possibilities."


Additionally, 'Roma Shampoo,' which achieved sales growth through linking Kakao Shopping Live and KakaoTalk channels, and the luxury brand 'WOOYOUNGMI,' which is listed on KakaoTalk Gift Lux and conducts advertising and sales, are featured.


Kakao started the Kakao Business Seminar in September 2020. The seminar introduces various Kakao advertising and business platforms such as Kakao Moment, KakaoTalk Channel, and Kakao Sync, and operates educational programs that deliver marketing know-how.


The Kakao Business Seminar regularly offers about 10 lectures monthly, including 'Classes' for easy and fast learning anytime and anywhere via video on demand (VOD), 'Online Seminars' where experts from various business fields are invited to communicate with speakers in real time, and 'Offline Seminars' where Kakao staff directly share business operation know-how. On average, 3,000 business operators participate monthly. Participants who complete step-by-step Kakao Business Seminars receive a 'Kakao Business Certificate.' Furthermore, a program supports partners by providing advertising subsidies when they achieve goals set at each stage to continuously grow using Kakao's advertising, services, and business platforms.


Practical lectures that help small business owners are also offered and operated. Ahead of the comprehensive income tax filing in May, there are tax-specialized courses explaining filing procedures, methods, and tax-saving strategies by business type, as well as courses on startup success stories that enhance overall understanding of business operations such as sales strategies and branding know-how.
