Next-generation wireless communication technology Wi-Fi 7 is expected to be fully commercialized this year, and Gaon Broadband has quickly succeeded in entering the market.
Gaon Group announced on the 28th that its subsidiary Gaon Broadband has signed a supply contract for Wi-Fi 7 wireless routers (AP) with Evolution Digital.
Evolution Digital is a B2B provider of video and Wi-Fi solutions. Through this contract, Gaon Broadband's Wi-Fi 7 AP will be supplied to major North American telecommunications operators via Evolution Digital.
Wi-Fi 7 is the latest Wi-Fi standard officially announced by the Wi-Fi Alliance in January, offering data processing speeds up to five times faster than Wi-Fi 6. The channel bandwidth is doubled, and features such as Multi-Link Operation (MLO), which uses multiple frequency bands and channels simultaneously, have been added, improving not only speed but overall performance.
It is expected to be highly utilized in advanced technology fields requiring high-capacity data processing, including artificial intelligence (AI) and extended reality (XR). Major global IT companies are expected to launch Wi-Fi 7 supported devices in earnest starting this year, drawing significant industry attention.
A company representative stated, “As full-scale Wi-Fi 7 commercialization is being discussed, securing this contract has given us the opportunity to capture the demand for network equipment replacement. Having successfully entered the North American market, which is considered a barometer of the latest technology trends, we will rapidly expand our presence into key markets including domestically.”
