Yangcheon-gu, Seoul (Mayor Lee Gi-jae) announced on the 28th that it has established a dedicated website for the 'Comprehensive Support Center for Airport Noise Countermeasures' and will launch an online application service for airport usage fee support starting from the 1st of next month to facilitate convenience for residents affected by airport noise.

The Comprehensive Support Center for Airport Noise Countermeasures, which opened in April last year, has been providing information about the center’s introduction and roles, as well as updates on the revision of the Airport Noise Prevention Act through the district office website. However, due to criticisms regarding low accessibility, a separate dedicated website has been created to strengthen two-way communication with residents.

In particular, the dedicated website allows residents to apply online for airport usage fee support. From this year, residents affected by airport noise who use Gimpo Airport can apply for the airport usage fee support (4,000 KRW for domestic flights, 17,000 KRW for international flights, supported twice per person annually) online, eliminating the inconvenience of having to visit the district office or center in person.

The newly established website is composed of sections including Center Introduction, Project Guide, Noise Countermeasure Projects, Noise Map, Information Plaza, and Notice Board. Detailed contents include ▲Status of Resident Support Projects ▲Hearing (Detailed) Test Support ▲Counseling and Psychological Support ▲Scholarship Support ▲Hearing Aid Purchase Cost Support ▲Airport Usage Fee Support ▲Real-time Aircraft Routes and Noise Levels on the Airport Noise Portal ▲Locations of Automatic Aircraft Noise Monitoring Stations managed by Yangcheon-gu, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, the Ministry of Environment, and Seoul City, providing a wide range of information.

The district plans to improve the system so that hearing (detailed) tests and counseling psychological support projects promoted by the center can also be applied for online in the future. Additionally, real-time noise maps from automatic measuring devices will be provided through the dedicated website within this year.

Mayor Lee Gi-jae stated, “With the establishment of the dedicated website for the Comprehensive Support Center for Airport Noise Countermeasures, we hope residents can access information and support projects related to airport noise more conveniently,” adding, “We will continue to implement effective compensation measures that residents can feel in relation to airport noise.”
