According to the police on the 27th, the Gangnam Police Station in Seoul applied for an arrest warrant for Lim on charges of extortion and attempted extortion the day before. An agency team leader, Park, who is suspected of conspiring with Lim during the crime, also had an arrest warrant applied for on extortion charges.

Lim is accused of threatening Kim after getting into a physical altercation while drinking at a bar in Gangnam, Seoul, in February 2021, and extorting 400 million won in two installments under the pretext of a settlement fee. At that time, Lim was working as a manager at the agency to which Kim belonged.

It is known that Lim later demanded additional money from Kim, but Kim refused.

The police applied for arrest warrants for them in January, but the court dismissed Lim's warrant, citing the need for additional explanation, and the prosecution rejected Park's warrant.

At that time, the police applied charges of joint extortion under the Act on the Aggravated Punishment, etc. of Specific Crimes, but after further investigation, they concluded that Lim alone carried out the extortion and applied charges of extortion under the Criminal Act.
