On this day, the Authority awarded a total of 23 million KRW in scholarships to five schools, including Korea Port Logistics High School, and scholarship goods worth approximately 17 million KRW to four sports organizations, including the Gwangyang Steel High School soccer team.

A total of about 170 students were selected as scholarship recipients this time, awarded to outstanding talents in academics, sports, and arts from the Yeosu and Gwangyang regions.

At the event, President Park Seong-hyun stated, "We will continue to steadily expand the Happiness Scholarship support project to nurture outstanding talents in our region, including port-specialized talents, children and youth from vulnerable groups, and talents in sports and arts."

Since 2018, the Authority has been delivering Happiness Scholarships and scholarship goods annually to contribute to nurturing future local talents and supporting students from educational welfare target groups to reduce educational disparities.

In addition to the Happiness Scholarship project, the Authority is carrying out various social contribution projects to coexist with the local community, such as a warm meal support project for job seekers, the Hope Stepping Stone project for children with special disabilities, a lunchbox delivery project for the elderly living alone and vulnerable groups, and the Obaek Noodles project to create jobs for low-income families.
