Sharing Public Architects' Activities for Urban Analysis and Idle Space Value Discovery in Jinhae
On the 27th, Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam held a general and public architect workshop at the Yi Sunshin International Leadership Center under the theme of "Rediscovering the Value of Public Spaces through Urban Space Analysis in Jinhae," to share ideas among public architects.
This workshop served as an opportunity to share project ideas that have been in progress since last November, with 13 public architects exhibiting and presenting the results of their spatial improvement projects. Over 50 people attended the event, including Changwon Special City Mayor Hong Nam-pyo, the city's chief architect, public architects, and officials from related departments.
The participating public architects used their expertise to analyze the unique features and issues of Jinhae’s urban space and shared their findings on rediscovering the value of public spaces (such as idle spaces, plazas, and roads) hidden within.
For the Yeojwa and Taebaek areas, Hyunsoo Kim proposed "CHERRY BLOSSOM FLOWERPOT," Seungjo Hong planned an ecological park shelter, Jaejoong Kang suggested the Yeojwacheon Tower, Kangju Lee proposed Romance Info and Taebaek Four Corners. For the Sokcheon area, Somin Lee suggested waterfront facilities at Sokcheon Port, and Jongyeol Bae proposed improvements to the caf? street space. For the Haengam area, Sojung Yang and Jungmin Lee suggested improvements to public restrooms, Myungjun Son proposed pedestrian environment improvements and waterfront space planning at Haengam Port, and Hongyeol Kim suggested improvements to the Haengam Port bus stop. For the Myeongdong area, Sungmoon Jung proposed waterfront facilities at Myeongdong Marina, Mooncheol Kang proposed the creation of walking trails around the circulation routes, and Kyungtae Jung suggested a pavilion at Myeongdong Port.
Mayor Hong Nam-pyo of Changwon Special City said, "I hope this workshop will serve as an opportunity to fully realize the potential of Jinhae's urban spaces through the expertise and creative ideas of public architects," and added, "I would like to express my gratitude to the chief and public architects who are striving for innovation in Changwon's public architecture."
