Tasting Event for Food Companies Including Side Dishes and Desserts, Creating a Communication Platform to Foster Youth Entrepreneurship
Gwangjin-gu (Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) and Konkuk University (President Jeon Young-jae) Campus Town held the ‘Star City Startup Zone Networking Day’ on the 26th to commemorate the opening of the shared kitchen, officially supporting youth entrepreneurship.
Located in Jayang-dong, the ‘Star City Startup Zone (262 Achasan-ro, Basement 1st Floor)’ is a youth startup support facility with a total area of 436㎡. In particular, it provides a shared kitchen to facilitate smooth business operations for bio (food) companies, a specialized field of Konkuk University.
On this day, about 60 people, including Gwangjin-gu Mayor Kim Kyung-ho, Konkuk University President Jeon Young-jae, and representatives of resident companies, gathered to share opinions on fostering youth entrepreneurship. After touring the shared kitchen facilities, they held a tasting event to explore directions for development.
At the tasting event, products from seven food companies were introduced. Various items such as side dishes, ready meals, Greek yogurt, traditional liquor, and ice cream were displayed, attracting attention. The creativity reflecting the characteristics of an area densely populated by single-person youth households and popular tastes received positive responses.
Youth participants experienced the products together and discussed their pros and cons. One young entrepreneur said, “Peers who have taken on the challenging venture of starting a business gathered to share honest stories,” and added, “As I started my business, I needed information exchange, so this seems like a great opportunity to build close networks.”
Gwangjin-gu Mayor Kim Kyung-ho said, “I hope the Star City Startup Zone will play a pivotal role in realizing the dreams and passion of young people,” and added, “We will provide wholehearted support so that the infinite growth potential of young entrepreneurs can shine.”
Gwangjin-gu and Konkuk University were selected in the 2022 comprehensive Campus Town competition and are committed to fostering youth entrepreneurship. They are promoting various specialized projects, including the establishment of startup support facilities, startup competitions, startup schools, and regional revitalization.
