The prosecution additionally indicted Yoon Kwan-seok, former Democratic Party lawmaker (63), on bribery charges on the 27th. Yoon is currently imprisoned after being sentenced to two years in prison in the first trial for the so-called 'Democratic Party Convention Money Envelope Distribution' case.
On the same day, the Anti-Corruption Investigation Division 2 of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office (Chief Prosecutor Choi Jae-hoon) indicted Yoon without detention on charges of receiving money and entertainment worth a total of 22.7 million KRW from Song, the CEO of a bathroom materials manufacturing company, in exchange for helping to amend laws related to water-saving facilities.
According to the prosecution, between June 2017 and March of last year, Yoon received a total of 6.5 million KRW in sponsorship funds from Song, who requested amendments to laws in a way that would benefit his business activities. Yoon also arranged for Song to provide a total of 8.5 million KRW in sponsorship funds to 12 Democratic Party lawmakers with whom Yoon had personal connections.
Additionally, Yoon is accused of receiving bribes by having Song pay approximately 7.7 million KRW in membership golf course fees on 11 occasions and being granted opportunities to use the same golf course 16 times.
A representative from the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office stated, "The investigation team will make every effort to maintain the prosecution so that a sentence commensurate with the crime of receiving bribes related to legislative authority as a lawmaker can be imposed."
