The Namdo Dalbam Night Market Project Group (operated by the Ildo City Research Institute) announced on the 27th that it has successfully concluded the first season of the Namdo Dalbam Night Market, which began in May.

Namdo Dalbam Night Market Season 1 was held over three sessions on May 25, June 15, and June 22.

With the newly implemented food zone layout, smart tourism app-linked events, and merchant experience programs, an average of 10,000 to 12,000 citizens attended each session, firmly establishing its status as the largest night market in Honam.

In line with the characteristics of an art market, two "Han Pyeong Gallery" exhibitions were held: the first featuring Buddhist paintings and the second showcasing Thefting popup store. These sophisticated Art Week exhibitions received high praise from visitors.

Notably, this season expanded the food cart zone throughout the entire market based on merchants' feedback and rearranged the central parking lot plaza into an event zone and seller sales space to diversify visitor flow.

These changes resulted in an average sales increase of over 150% compared to last year, earning positive responses from participating sellers and merchants.

The newly launched Art Pass app (developed by Gwangju Metropolitan City and Gwangju Dong-gu Office) promotion-linked coupon event and franchisee participation briefing sessions attracted over 40 sellers per session, demonstrating their popularity. It is reported that the prepared quantities were sold out early due to the enthusiastic participation of citizens.

Lee Seung-jae, who participated in the merchant experience program on the 22nd, said, “I visited the night market with my family over the weekend and applied for the merchant experience program. The high-quality artist classes and merchant lectures were impressive, and the pleasant environment made me understand why it is called Gwangju’s representative night market.”

Meanwhile, the Namdo Dalbam Night Market Project Group, which successfully held the Saturday night market during the spring season, will return with new concepts and programs for Season 2 (July 13, 20, and 27) after a two-week preparation period.
