Recently, Naju City in Jeollanam-do held the first on-site technical support consulting session for domestic cultivated varieties under the ‘Market Certification Quality Assurance System’ at the Agricultural Technology Center’s Farmer Education Hall.
According to the city on the 27th, this consulting session involved experts and farmers sharing and exchanging opinions on their own management methods, including the cultivation characteristics, soil management, water management, and post-harvest care of the main cultivated varieties, ‘Sinhwa’ and ‘Changjo’.

In particular, two experts in related fields provided consulting on orchard management methods and addressed questions from actual farming sites, resulting in very high responsiveness and satisfaction among participating farmers.
Farmers who participated in the consulting said, “It was a meaningful time to share know-how and opinions among farmers and to confirm expert advice,” adding, “Through this consulting, we will establish techniques suitable for the varieties and do our best to continue the reputation of the premium Naju pears.”
A city official stated, “Although there was some quality degradation last year due to frequent rainfall during the harvest period of early-ripening varieties, we hope this consulting will help solve such problems and enhance the capabilities of farmers.”
Meanwhile, in the second and third consulting sessions scheduled for the second half of the year, the city plans to visit about 20 farms under the Market Certification Quality Assurance System to provide tailored consultations from cultivation to harvest and management according to the farm environment.
