Ulju County Designates 11th Non-Smoking Apartment

Ulsan's Ulju County announced on the 27th that it has designated Dongmun The East Apartment in Ulsan Station New Town, Samnam-eup, as Ulju's 11th smoke-free apartment, in an effort to create a healthy apartment culture without cigarette smoke.

According to Article 9, Paragraph 5 of the National Health Promotion Act, a smoke-free apartment is a system in which, with the consent of more than half of the heads of households, all or part of four common areas in multi-family housing (hallways, stairs, elevators, underground parking lots) are designated as non-smoking zones.

Ulju County designated the 11th smoke-free apartment and held a plaque ceremony.

The Ulju County Public Health Center will post information signs and banners at the entrances of the apartment. After a three-month period of promotion and guidance from the date of designation, a fine of 50,000 won will be imposed for violations starting September 28.

The Ulju County Public Health Center plans to prioritize support for mobile smoking cessation clinics and anti-smoking campaigns in smoke-free apartments, focusing on promotion and expansion.

An official from Ulju County stated, "We will do our best to create a smoke-free environment in Ulju County and further promote the health of our residents."
