LH Supplies 4,941 Purchased Rental Housing Units Including Youth, Newlyweds, and Dundeun Jeonse Programs

Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH) announced that starting from the 27th, it will begin accepting applications for purchase rental housing for homeless youth, newlyweds, middle-class, and low-income households.

The purchase rental project is a system where LH purchases newly built or existing houses with good transportation accessibility in urban areas, close to workplaces and residences, and rents them out at affordable prices.

Through this announcement, LH will supply a total of 4,941 units nationwide. By type, there are 1,745 units of youth (including dormitories) purchase rental housing, 1,561 units of newlywed and newborn purchase rental housing, and 1,635 units of Dundeun Jeonse housing.

'Youth Purchase Rental Housing' is housing supplied to youth aged 19 to 39, university students, and job seekers. The rental conditions are about 40-50% of the nearby market price, and residents can stay for up to 10 years (20 years if married after moving in).

By region, 711 units are in the metropolitan area including Seoul, Gyeonggi, and Incheon, and 1,034 units are in other regions. Reflecting the demand of youth who frequently move due to study or employment, appliances such as refrigerators, washing machines, and air conditioners will be provided depending on the housing conditions.

'Newlywed and Newborn Purchase Rental Housing' is housing supplied to newlywed couples within 7 years of marriage, prospective newlyweds, and households with newborns. It is divided into Newlywed and Newborn Type I and II according to income and asset criteria.

A newborn household refers to a household with children born within the last 2 years from the date of the application announcement (including fetuses confirmed by pregnancy diagnosis certificates and adopted children born within 2 years).

'Newlywed and Newborn Type I Purchase Rental Housing' supplies multi-family and multi-unit houses at about 30-40% of market price. 'Newlywed and Newborn Type II Purchase Rental Housing' supplies apartments and officetels in a quasi-jeonse form (80% deposit, 20% monthly rent) at about 70-80% of market price to reduce rental burden.

'Newlywed and Newborn Type I Purchase Rental Housing' allows residence for up to 20 years, and 'Newlywed and Newborn Type II Purchase Rental Housing' allows up to 10 years (14 years if there are children). By region, 671 units are in the metropolitan area including Seoul, Gyeonggi, and Incheon, and 890 units are in other regions.

From this announcement, a new scoring system (3 points) has been introduced for applicants receiving housing and education benefits under the 'Newlywed and Newborn' category, strengthening support for vulnerable housing groups.

'Dundeun Jeonse Housing' is housing supplied to homeless middle-class households at a jeonse price below 90% of the surrounding market price.

This announcement converts the remaining units of the 'Public Jeonse Housing,' which was temporarily promoted to alleviate the jeonse crisis in 2021-2022, into 'Dundeun Jeonse Housing.' By region, 1,376 units are in the metropolitan area including Seoul, Gyeonggi, and Incheon, and 259 units are in other regions.

Any member of a homeless household can apply regardless of income or assets, and can reside for up to 8 years.

Additionally, to overcome low birth rates, priority points are given when newborn or child-rearing households apply for 'Dundeun Jeonse Housing.' Newborn households receive 1 point, and child-rearing households receive points according to the number of children: 1 point for one child, 2 points for two children, and 3 points for three or more children.

Applications for youth and newlywed purchase rental housing will be accepted in early July, with document screening candidates announced in July, followed by verification of eligibility such as income and assets, and winners announced in September. Detailed schedules vary by regional headquarters.

Applications for 'Dundeun Jeonse Housing' will be accepted for three days from July 24 to 26, with document screening candidates announced on the 29th, followed by document screening and winners announced at the end of August.
