14 out of 23 Identified... Foreign Nationals: 10 Chinese, 1 Laotian
Among the deceased at the fire site of the Arisel factory, a primary battery manufacturer in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi Province, the identities of 11 additional victims have been confirmed.
The Hwaseong Fire Accident Investigation Headquarters of the Gyeonggi Southern Provincial Police Agency announced on the 26th, "As of 6 p.m., we received DNA comparison results for 11 deceased individuals from the National Forensic Service, confirming their identities."
The identified deceased include 1 Korean (female), 9 Chinese nationals (2 males, 7 females), and 1 Laotian (female).
With these 11 newly identified victims added to the 3 previously identified, a total of 14 individuals' identities have now been confirmed.
This is the first time identities have been confirmed through DNA collection and comparison since the fire. The police stated that they have notified the families of the deceased about the identification results. The fire broke out around 10:30 a.m. on the 24th at the Arisel factory in Jeongok-ri, Seosin-myeon, Hwaseong City, resulting in 23 deaths and 8 injuries. Among the deceased, 5 were Korean nationals and 18 were foreigners (17 Chinese nationals and 1 Laotian national).
