Yeosu Gwangyang Port Hosts Moving Marketing Event Inviting CMA CGM, the World's 3rd Largest French Shipping Company

‘1 Gaeseonsa 1 Gaehangro+’ Attraction Campaign, Expected Increase in Cargo Volume at Gwangyang Port

Yeosu Gwangyang Port Authority (President Park Seong-hyun, hereinafter referred to as the Authority) announced that on the 25th, it held an invitation event for CMA CGM, a major shipping company belonging to OCEAN Alliance, one of the world's top three global shipping alliances, at Gwangyang Port.

The event began with a flag-raising ceremony of CMA CGM held at the Authority's headquarters, followed by a CEO meeting to generate container cargo volume at Gwangyang Port, and then attendance at the K League 2 Round 19 match between Jeonnam Dragons and Suwon Samsung held at the Gwangyang Football Stadium as ‘Yeosu Gwangyang Port Authority Day,’ serving as a communication event to highlight the role and importance of the port.

In particular, promotional materials for Yeosu Gwangyang Port, ranked first in export-import cargo volume, were distributed to local residents attending the match, providing an opportunity to communicate with the community.

Meanwhile, CMA CGM, the world's third-largest container shipping company, operates a total of six regular shipping services, including deep-sea services to North America and Africa, at Gwangyang Port. As of May this year, it has handled approximately 40,000 TEUs (1 TEU equals one 20-foot container box) in cumulative cargo volume, significantly contributing to the revitalization of Gwangyang Port.

The Authority is actively responding to the restructuring movements of shipping alliances by strengthening comprehensive target marketing not only through this invitation marketing but also by enhancing relations with MSC headquarters (Geneva, Switzerland), the world's number one shipping company, and Maersk's Asia operations headquarters (Shanghai, China), the second-largest shipping company, to reinforce Gwangyang Port's position.

President Park Seong-hyun of the Authority stated, “To realize the first management policy* of ‘customer-first management,’ I have been tirelessly working on the ground for the past two years and six months,” adding, “We will provide the best service with the mindset that all shipping companies using Yeosu Gwangyang Port are our most valued customers, thereby contributing to the development of the local economy.”
