50th Anniversary of Poet Shin Seok-jeong's Passing... Honoring Life and Literature with 'Music Fusion'
The Buan County Cultural Foundation is commemorating the 50th anniversary of poet Shin Seok-jeong's passing by holding an open call for original songs using Shin Seok-jeong's poems as lyrics from June 15 to August 14.
This contest is the successor to last year's '1st National Shin Seok-jeong Creative Music Contest' and will be newly operated this year as the '2nd Shin Seok-jeong Creative Music Festival.'
The Shin Seok-jeong Creative Music Festival is open to anyone regardless of age, genre, or educational background, and participants can enter individually or as groups. The poems are 70 works available on the Seokjeong Literature Museum website. Applications and submissions must be made by August 14 by downloading the application form from the Buan County Cultural Foundation website and submitting the audio files via email.

The judging panel, composed of experts, will evaluate the entries based on how well the melody and musical expression align with the intent of the poems, as well as their popularity and originality. One grand prize winner, one gold, silver, and bronze prize winner each, and two encouragement prize winners will be selected.
The awards ceremony will be held on September 28 at the Seokjeong Literature Museum. Winners will receive 2 million KRW for the grand prize, 800,000 KRW for the gold prize, 500,000 KRW for the silver prize, 300,000 KRW for the bronze prize, and 200,000 KRW each for the encouragement prizes, along with certificates.
This year's Creative Music Festival, marking the 50th anniversary of poet Shin Seok-jeong's passing, honors his life and literary work. It is expected to play an important role in the fusion and expansion of the various colors of Seokjeong's poetry with music.
