Daegu City has decided to provide 100 million KRW in relief funds to Gyeonggi Province to comfort the victims and support swift recovery efforts following the factory fire in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi, that occurred on the 24th.
Daegu City plans to deliver the donation through the Korean Red Cross, utilizing the city's disaster relief fund.
Hong Joonpyo, Mayor of Daegu, said, "I offer my condolences for the workers who lost their lives in the Hwaseong factory fire and extend my deepest sympathies to their families. I hope Daegu City's support will be of some help in the recovery from the fire damage."
Meanwhile, Daegu City has continuously provided donations and supplies for rapid recovery whenever major disasters have occurred in other regions, including 100 million KRW for the Seocheon Specialty Market fire in South Chungcheong in February 2024, 200 million KRW for heavy rain damage in South Chungcheong and North Chungcheong in July 2023, 200 million KRW for heavy rain damage in North Gyeongsang in July 2023, 30 million KRW for the Guryong Village fire in Seoul in January 2023, and 200 million KRW for the Uljin wildfire in March 2022.
