On the morning of the 26th, the Presidential Office held a security situation review meeting chaired by In Seong-hwan, the Second Deputy Director of the National Security Office, to discuss countermeasures in response to North Korea's ballistic missile launch.
Earlier, the Joint Chiefs of Staff announced that North Korea launched an unidentified ballistic missile from the Pyongyang area toward the East Sea around 5:30 a.m. that day, but it is presumed to have failed.
This ballistic missile launch by North Korea is the first in about a month since the 30th of last month.
