Computer, Console, and Extended Reality Events in Progress
The 2nd National Disabled eSports Competition will be held in Chungnam this July.
According to Chungnam Province on the 26th, the National Disabled eSports Competition will take place on July 20-21 at the Asan Disabled National Sports Center.
The Korea Paralympic Committee highly evaluated the province’s eSports industry revitalization policies and local infrastructure, deciding to hold the event in Chungnam.
The competition will feature three categories: computer (PC), console (Nintendo Switch), and extended reality (XR).
The computer categories include △League of Legends △FC Online △KartRider: Drift, while the console categories are Nintendo Switch Sports Tennis and Bowling.
The extended reality categories will include the existing wheelchair cycling and indoor rowing, with cross-country skiing as an experience event.
About 250 participants, including disabled athletes and delegations from 17 cities and provinces nationwide, are expected to attend the competition.
Song Mugyeong, Director of the Chungnam Provincial Office of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said, "As the birthplace of eSports, Chungnam will take the lead in globalizing disabled eSports led by Korea," adding, "We will strive to have eSports officially adopted as an event in major international disabled sports competitions such as the Paralympics and the Asian Para Games."
Meanwhile, the National President’s Cup Amateur eSports Competition and the Chungnam Governor’s Cup Workplace and Youth eSports Competitions are also scheduled to be held in Chungnam this August and September.
