President Yoon Suk-yeol launched the 'Mental Health Policy Innovation Committee' on the 26th and presided over its first meeting. This is the first time in history that a presidential committee dedicated to mental health has been established under any administration.

President Yoon emphasized the importance of prevention to ensure that everyday feelings of depression and anxiety do not develop into mental illnesses, promising to provide psychological counseling service packages to a total of one million people during his term. He also announced plans to improve the mental health checkups for young people, changing the frequency from once every ten years to once every two years starting January next year.
