Operating by Changing the President's Official Residence... Education in Five Disciplines
The Korea National University of Cultural Heritage announced on the 26th that it will convert the president's official residence at the Buyeo campus in Chungnam into a National Intangible Heritage Transmission Education School. An opening ceremony will be held in the afternoon with the participation of Choi Yuhyun, a holder of the National Intangible Heritage embroidery master title, among others.
This space was created by linking intangible heritage transmission activities with university education. Upon completing the education, students can take the National Intangible Heritage mastery examination. Currently, five educational courses are being offered, including Dancheong painting, wood carving, embroidery, Je and weaving, and Hansan Mosi weaving.
Until now, classes have been conducted in the same spaces as the traditional culture university department classes. Following opinions that a separate space was needed, the president's official residence was converted into a dedicated space.
A representative of the Korea National University of Cultural Heritage explained, “There are two practice spaces and a rest area, allowing students to use them freely.”
