Moved dogs to the coast after three trips between the coast and the lake
Offered a reward by the owner after rescue but declined
People who were enjoying fishing at a lake became a topic of conversation after rescuing 38 dogs instead of fish. What they found in the lake were not fish, but dogs whose lives were in danger if not rescued. On the 25th, foreign media such as AP News and the New York Post reported on an experience that Bob Geist, an insurance planner, had while fishing in early June. Geist visited Grenada Lake in Mississippi, USA, to enjoy a vacation with his friends.
Those leisurely fishing at the lake soon noticed something floating on the water. What surfaced were the heads of dogs. Geist told AP News, "(The lake) was full of dogs. The dogs were swimming in circles and appeared to be disoriented."
The dogs had entered the lake while chasing deer during a fox hunt and found themselves unable to return to shore. At that time, the dogs were swimming at least 1.6 km away from the shore, searching for land. The dog owners on the shore were in a panic, unable to do anything. Geist, along with his friend Brad Carlisle and fishing guide Jordan Crestman, rowed a boat toward the dogs and one by one pulled the exhausted dogs onto the boat.
They made three trips between the shore and the lake, moving all the dogs to the shore, ultimately rescuing a total of 38 dogs. It is unknown whether there were any dogs they failed to rescue. After the rescue, the dog owners offered to pay a reward, but Geist and his group declined the offer, saying, "Please help us when we are in trouble."
