Gyeonggi Province will switch to keeping the real names of employees at grade 6 and below confidential starting July 1. This measure is to protect employees from malicious civil complaints.
In response to concerns that withholding employee names could undermine administrative accountability and transparency, Gyeonggi Province gathered opinions from employees and residents and limited the confidentiality scope to employees at grade 6 and below, with names displayed in the format "Kim ㅇㅇ".
In a survey conducted by Gyeonggi Province among employees and residents from May to June, 93% of employees and 80% of residents supported the "confidentiality of employee real names." Regarding the scope of confidentiality, 52% of residents agreed to "selective confidentiality limited to general staff."
