Reopening of Seongdong-gu Eungbong Sports Park Tennis Courts

Seongdong-gu, Seoul (Mayor Jung Won-oh) has completed the environmental improvement construction of the Eungbong Sports Park Tennis Court (237-1, Eungbong-dong) and reopened it on the 21st.

Seongdong-gu carried out environmental improvement work for two months from April 15 to enable residents using the tennis court to use the facilities more comfortably and conveniently, including the installation of artificial turf courts and the construction of new drainage channels.

First, four of the tennis courts at Eungbong Tennis Court were newly constructed as artificial turf courts. In October 2022, the district had converted two of the six tennis courts into artificial turf courts, leaving four courts as masato (clay) courts.

With this environmental improvement work, all the tennis courts have been converted to artificial turf courts, allowing residents to use the facilities more comfortably and safely.

Additionally, to reduce the inconvenience of tennis balls flying outside the tennis court and to prevent damage to nearby residents from stray balls, the height of the embankment-side fence was reinforced. Along with the installation of new drainage channels and the maintenance of the entrance road, a separate rest area was provided as a space for users to relax, enhancing convenience. Seongdong-gu plans to actively collect users' feedback and maintain the facilities more thoroughly in the future.

The Eungbong Sports Park Tennis Court operates daily from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., and during winter (December to February), it operates from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Those wishing to rent the facility can apply through the Seongdong-gu Urban Management Corporation website.

Jung Won-oh, Mayor of Seongdong-gu, said, "We believe that protecting the health of our residents is the foundation of welfare, and we are promoting various sports policies such as expanding sports fields and centers by category and supporting sports competitions." He added, "We will continue to strive to revitalize community sports so that all residents can enjoy a healthy and vibrant daily life."
