Hunter Biden, the second son of U.S. President Joe Biden, has had his law license suspended.
According to major foreign media on the 25th (local time), a U.S. federal court suspended Hunter Biden's Washington DC law license after he was found guilty of illegal firearm possession.
The Washington DC Court of Appeals stated, "Hunter Biden's law license is suspended immediately," and added, "The Character and Fitness Committee will conduct a formal procedure to determine the nature of the crime and issues of moral turpitude."
Washington DC regulations stipulate that lawyers convicted of certain crimes lose their licenses. Although Hunter Biden's license is currently suspended, if the guilty verdict is finalized, he is likely to be permanently disbarred.
Earlier, a federal jury in Wilmington, Delaware, found Hunter guilty on all three charges, including possessing and purchasing a handgun while concealing his status as a drug addict.
Hunter Biden's legal team filed a motion the day before requesting a new trial on the firearm possession charge, citing procedural issues.
Hunter Biden has also been indicted on tax evasion charges. That trial is scheduled to take place in September in Los Angeles (LA).
President Biden has stated that he will accept whatever verdict comes from his son's trials and has ruled out the possibility of a pardon.
