Notification of 'Approval' Decision by the Public Officials' Disaster Compensation Deliberation Committee of the Ministry of Personnel Innovation
The Daejeon Metropolitan Office of Education announced that the death of a teacher at Daejeon Yongsan Elementary School in September last year, who suffered from malicious complaints by parents, has been recognized as a work-related death by the Public Officials Disaster Compensation Review Board of the Ministry of Personnel Management.
On the 19th, the Public Officials Disaster Compensation Review Board held a review regarding the bereaved family’s claim for work-related death benefits for the Daejeon Yongsan Elementary School teacher and notified the decision of approval on the 25th. This came about six months after the bereaved family filed the claim in December last year.
Since September last year, the Daejeon Office of Education has conducted a thorough investigation and the Daejeon City Education Rights Protection Committee has made a decision recognizing the infringement of educational activities. Additionally, efforts have been made to submit various supporting documents and statements to the Ministry of Personnel Management and to support on-site investigations to obtain recognition of the work-related death.
Superintendent Seol Dong-ho said, “In honor of the late teacher, we will strengthen the comprehensive functions to prevent infringements on educational activities so that teachers can focus on their educational duties with conviction and belief.”
